That’s only part of the story, of course. I haven’t made up my mind on the new Ursula Rucker.
I’m glad to see that last.fm has implemented goodies from their recent (short-lived) beta. I haven’t test-driven everything, but things like easy-access RSS feeds look delicious.
On another note (hehe), there’s been recent discussion in the Media Center Forums regarding the limitations of using a 1-5 ratings system for music. Some suggested alternatives:
- Extending ratings to 1-10
- Adding half-points to ratings
- Adding ratings capability to genre
Also, the criteria for rating tracks varied from songs people hated to songs they only want to hear when listening to a full album. I’ve only begun rating tracks as of last month and I have already run into instances where I just leave a track unrated due to brain cramps around my own ratings philosophy. Besides, how I rate a song today and how I rate it tomorrow can vary quite a bit.
