Boy howdy!
This year’s World AIDS Day was especially emotional for me. That’s not a bad thing mind you; just… unexpected.
Firstly, writing my own post was incredibly draining and resulted in a couple of nightmares. Then I read the powerful words of my blogfam. Lastly — because I didn’t have the energy to do anything else — I laid in bed and watched many televised specials on this crippling pandemic.
I must thank all who left a comment or sent an email or IM. It is greatly appreciated. Donald mentioned that my post “is more personal than most” and I wanted to clarify that although it’s more popular (with good reason) to discuss pop culture, politics and daily minutae on these so-called blogs, the primary reason I have webspace is to express my creativity and personal feelings. When you strip away the pretty colors, php layout and hipper-than-thou attitude, thebrotherlove.com functions as my emotional dumping ground — my journal. It’s mostly a selfish operation and thusly, doesn’t always reap the feedback I expect or think I deserve. Yesterday, I was surprised. I wrote a rather long, sad and personal memorial and people read it and “got” it. Wow.
Nevertheless, I’ll try to keep it light this week.
No promises, though.
And even if you don’t keep it light this week, or the week after, that’s just fine, too. :)
Yeah, like you I am a bit dizzy from all the creativity expressed Monday. It was fascinating to see the many approaches taken to mark the day. Equally fascinating to me as a new blogger, but a long time Internet user, was this particular use of cyberspace. Not that I didn’t already know this, but individual people can make a difference.
I must add however, I am now at a loss as to what to blog about next. This has been a tough act to follow.
Well you already know how I feel :) Keep it up, sweetie :) I honestly admire you
ain’t no shame in it.
