Time flies when you don’t blog. I’d apologize for the scarcity of posts except:
- It’s my hot
bodywebsite I’ll do what I want - I don’t know if anyone has noticed
An update of sorts:
I finished the web project that was consuming my every waking moment and I am content with the results (“content” is about as high as my emotions normally reach). There are some things I’d like to do differently but, given the timeline and resources, it’s more than adequate for the purpose it serves. IM me if you want the URL. I’m not linking until I redesign.
And since I’m on the topic of redesigning, can I confess something to you? Just you, now. Nobody else, okay? Oh, never mind.
During the few breaks I had from working on the aforementioned web project, I’ve scanned the Blogfam and noticed that you all seem pretty quiet as well. I read a few posts of interest but I hesitated to comment because I seemed to be so far behind the discussion. That got me to thinking about the date hierarchy as a possible deterrent to interaction. Unless there’s an on-going discussion, few people respond to posts over a few days old especially if its not the latest post. Why aren’t more posts timeless?
I’m evaluating how displaying the date of posts and comments affect the overall interactivity of this site. As it is, I bury the date of my posts but perhaps I should do the same with comments. Then again, I’m questioning the value of the commenting feature as well. So, y’know… There you go.
In offline news:
The weather finally broke today so Atlanta feels like Atlanta again. I hope to have a productive and restful weekend - is that an oxymoron? Tonight, I will probably finish off the last of my Valentine’s Day goodies (one cannot bear the name brotherlove and be a love grinch). On Saturday, I need to do something to the bomb shelter known as my room and complete some writing. Sunday, bears witness to the last episode of Sex and the City and Prime’s fundraiser for Georgia Equality (mentioned here). And then, more or less, begins the countdown to J. Day 2004.
Be very afraid.
Uh…yeah I noticed, j.
Been missing the regular posts like cray-zay.
But I understand when life gets in the way.
Yeah, I noticed too. But since my own site was in disrepair I can’t really criticize.
But what if folks did let you know — and quite frequently — that you didn’t update? I noticed, but I don’t feel right telling folks “Umm…don’t you need to update?”
With my wishy-washy updating ass.
I noticed. :)
Like Bernie said, I can’t really complain. My site is experiencing technical difficulties that I can’t immediately fix, I’m working on another web project, and I’m up to my arse in graduate school work.
I noticed, but figured, like me, you’d write when desire warranted or time permitted. Such is life.
Wait until MT 3.0 drops. Comment registration could do quite a bit for selective interactivity. Might-could boost the rate of return on entries, let you direct more conversational attention elsewhere and so on.
Which leads me to ask: How often do you link to old posts in new ones?
Er… I’m working on getting back to a regular posting schedule.
George brings up a good point. I know that I “link back” as often as I can. But I’m still wondering how important the date is on some of my posts.
This is probably one of the only times I’ll ever get to post a comment on your blog, although I do peek in often, to read and steal ideas. I too feel to be “so far behind the discussion.” of you and ‘Soul of a Man’ that I often read one post, run away blushing and have to go have sex with as many women as possible (j/k).
