I had it all planned:

An early escape from Gig #1; an early escape from Gig #2; a quick change stashed in Boycruiser’s trunk with diamond studs, toothpaste and smell good.

Even as the sky opened wide Friday morning, and horizontal rain and intermittent hail caused tricky driving conditions and threatened outdoor activities, there was hope. Although the sky scowled and brooded all day, there was hope. But when the sky opened wide again at evening rush, there was no use in pretending.

I wish you luck on your solo endeavor, Darius Rucker. Res, I’m glad I saw your live performance on HBO. Cee-Lo, I’ll have to catch you later this month at Tabernacle. Tony Rich, spread your wings and fly, my brotha.

Call me a crazy. But paying $40 to stand in the rain sans umbrella, sink my shoes in mud, and watch anything is an idea I can’t wrap my head around.

Such is the nature of outside music festivals.
