Oh, it’s so last minute…
When I get off work, I have to dash to DIC because my plane leaves in less than five hours and I haven’t packed a thing. I’ve sort of thrown some things on top of the suitcase and that’s about it. *sigh* Yes, I’m a last minute kinda guy. Not always - only when it counts. I’ve emailed my peeps and will pretty much fly by the seat of my pants while I’m in Chicago.
So far, the only definite plans are sweating at Frankie Knuckles’ party at HOB tonight, checking out the Earth From Above exhibit and taking lots of pics - none as beautiful as Dawn’s, I fear. Nix and Bianca want to catch an obligatory Fourth Of July film but, I’ll probably pass on that. I’ll be trying to combine seeing friends with two of my favorite activities: eating and partying. The Taste Of Chicago will be in full swing. But, honestly, all I really want is Giordano’s, Al’s #1 Beef and some Jay’s Potato Chips. (yes, I’ll be throwing the 90-Day Plan out the window, this weekend). If I can get someone to join me, I may use my influence to swing a reso/comp meal at N9NE or one sixtyblue.
As for partying, I’m curious to step through my old stomping grounds, Funky Buddha Lounge, Prop House and Red Dog. I did a search for new spots but couldn’t determine which would be worth my time (although, this place looks cute). Speaking of “new”, have gay and lesbian bars become passé or are my shoes too tight? The Chicago bars and lounges haven’t changed in years!
Whatever happens, the emphasis will be on fun, fun fun! I’ll be taking my laptop so, feel free to shoot me some suggestions if you have any.
Hey there. I’m glad to read you have fun coming your way too. London is FABULOUS. And speaking of Wimbledon- WHO has prime seats at Centre Court to watch both Venus and Serena SPANK their would-be competition this afternoon? That would be me. I have finals seats too, so I’ll be the lone soul in the sea of Great Britain’s whitest, um, I mean FINEST, cheering (hopefully) the sisters battle in the final- WOW! It is at times like these I feel so proud to be an American… to be a woman… to be black! I love this city! (I love Chi-town too, but not as much as London! Have fun! I’m on my way to the tube now: Venus plays at noon!)
