Hot & Funky Fresh
Getting the beard tightenedby j. brotherlove
I got a later start today than I intended. I was at Wood’s until 2:30 this morning getting his shit set up.
Just got back from getting a funky fresh beard trimming at Greenbruh Mall. Getting my beard trimmed at the barber shop is a new indulgence of mine. I say indulgence because I’ve been cutting my head for 10 years. There’s no reason for me to start paying somebody $15 bucks a week. But, this beard thing is tricky - I need assistance. Plus, I like it when anybody (men or women) plays in my head. Today, my payment for the luxury of having a man caress my head, is a 40-minute conversation about sports and pussy - plus $8. Fair, I suppose.
The mall was packed with conventioning Deltas, family reunionists and, of course, vendors and patrons of the NBAF from all over the country. I was impressed with the overall diversity and quality of artwork. I wish I had more disposable income. I did see a sign mentioning a lay-a-way plan, though.
I’m on my way to meet Ex Lover so we can see 10 Naked Men in Little Five Points. We’ll probably have dinner and drinks afterwards. Somewhere cute, I’m thinking. I feel like seeing people. But, people-watching takes a backseat to comfort, today, for it is hot as a muthafucka in Atlanta. I’m rethinking my outfit, right now. Summer is precisely why I need a body like (covermodel) Xavier. When you’re built like that, you can wear next to nothing. Steadily, I’m seeing the benefits of my 90 Day Plan. But, there are still a few trouble spots I need to camouflage.
Why haven’t sarongs caught on, yet?

hi just passing through off tiff’s page..be blessed
lay-a-way? i haven’t seen any lay-a-way since before credit cards.
damn, we used to buy everything lay-a-way: TVs, clothes, toothpaste.
Lay-A-Way … I was just thinking about putting something on lay-a-way today …
Hey, mistory! Thanks for leaving your “footprint”.
Law-away was popular when I was growing up but my father didn’t believe in it. His philosophy is “either you have the money to buy it or you don’t.” Subsequently, I’ve never put anything on lay-away. But, I do think it’s a better system than credit.
With lay-away, when you (finally) get the product, it’s paid for. My credit cards are to the limit and I’m hard pressed to name what I bought or if I even still have the items I charged.
credit is mad evil. I’m not getting a new credit card until American Express will have me and I can handle paying off things in the same month I purchased them.
Debt, especially the kind of frivolous debt that credit cards inspire, is no joke.
I’m with Jason. Credit is evil, pure evil. Not too many things I’ll refer to as inherently pure evil…but credit is one of them. Oy…when I pay off my credit cards, I’m keeping one. That’s it. One Mastercard and that’s it. Another year, I’ll be debt free..well, except for those drat student loans. But that’s another story.
y’all don’t lie…credit is the devil’s tool.
