Tonight, you can catch me at the Raphael Saddiq/Joi concert. My prediction is that Joi will be fire-red hot and Raphael’s temperature will be a notch or two below hers. I planned on writing a review of Raphael’s CD, but I have been somewhat uninspired, lately (hence these recent post-free days).

Nothing to worry about. Just allowing myself to feel the change. In fact, let me reveal that I am so damned happy that I have a “real” job. It’s not my dream job, to be sure. But, it’s relatively secure (as secure as any job is these days), pays decent (now, I will be able to contribute $$ to DIC), and isn’t too far from home. In addition, my new coworkers and managers are extremely personable. So, this should be more fun than pain.

I haven’t adjusted to getting off work at 5:00, yet. By habit, I lay down and fall asleep when I get home. And driving to work is more interesting as traffic builds significantly around 8:00AM (as opposed to 7:00AM). I’m experimenting with alternate routes. This morning, I got lost - ugh!

I look forward to becoming comfortable in my position so I will be able to concentrate on The Near Future:

  • Going back to school, this fall.

  • Self-certifications (MSCE, others).

  • Publishing some of my writing.

But, right now, I need to nail down my 4th of July/Chicago vacation plans. I originally intended to arrive in Chi-town Wednesday night (the 3rd) and leave on Sunday (the 7th). But, now I’m thinking that’s a bit much for a city with no discernible nightlife. Perhaps, I should multiply my destinations or stay at home, for a change. I’m feeling cheap and broke. So, the prospects of spending money on airfare, hotel and a rental car is turning me off right now.

I got Joi’s CD “Star Kitty’s Revenge,” and I’m enjoying it.

What joy!
