Once again, I am uncoordinated, disconnected and all over the place.
I just remembered that Pride is this weekend and I am not prepared: no plans, no parties, nothing! And I haven’t worked out or bought a sleazy outfit… Geezus! How did I let one of the biggest weekends for non-heterosexuals just creep up on me? You’d think I just “came out”.
On top of that, I fly to Chicago next Wednesday for the 4th. That should be fun. But, other than the flight, I haven’t made any plans regarding the trip. I don’t know where I’m staying (other than with the folks) or what I’m driving when I arrive. Shit, I haven’t even told anybody I’m coming. Before BQM high-tailed it back to the Windy City, he said I could use the Green Hornet when I got there. But, that was then. I need a Plan B when working with that cat (who, incidentally, hasn’t called since he left).
I could just drop what I’m doing and plan everything out, right now. But, I’m also trying to get my desktop up to par. After sitting semi-dormant for three months, I have a lot of re-configuring so that it matches my laptop. Then again, if I will be whooping it up with The Gays, this weekend, in Atlanta; and politickin’ with The Kids after Wednesday of next week, the desktop really can wait.
Especially, since a greater issue is the state of my room which, literally, looks like the set of Animal House. It’s not dirty, per se. But, it is hellamessy, with mountains of clean clothes overlapping molehills of dirty clothes and miscellaneous pieces of mail and magazines thrown around for good measure. Sheesh! Now that I have my file cabinet, I can get rid of some of this paper. But, the clothes issue is trickier because, I don’t really have enough room to put all of my clothes when they are all clean.
I could at least fold them, though.
I’ve charted a route of safe passage through your room. Shall I share it with you? LOL
Anyway, just go with the flow. You know what rags to put on that give the air of things being in check underneath. And when the lights are off…. LOL
There will be plenty of things to “get into” here in the ATL and in Chicago once you toss yourself into the fray of things. Just enjoy the hyper activity that is sure to be in the air. And wave at me from the sideline as I “activate” for the weekend. :)
Being in Chicago is just exciting enough that you don’t have to really plan for anything. I say that only from living there once-upon-a-time.
As for Pride, well, I don’t know what to think about it right now.
One thing I am sure of though: The prases uncoordinated, disconnected and all over the place can be the most invigorating.
Chicago a la mode. Has a nice ring to it.
So, J…you’re going to be in Chicago for Pride? So is Steph. She will be performing at the poetry slam on Friday at the Radisson. The world is a small place. :)
Hell, I wish I was going to Chicago (for Pride or anything else). Oh well…you two will have lots of fun stories.
Prime, I apologize for not joining you - my parade marching are behind me.
But, I will be waving from the sidelines as long as I know where you are. Last year, I remember running through the park with BQM (who was sick and complaining of the heat) and getting angry at EJ because I couldn’t understand him on my cell phone. I didn’t find you guys until the very end of the parade.

Anitra - If Steph is performing, I mos def have to attend that slam to see your girl in action!
you can wear the outfits from San Juan. And your
signature look always attracts the attention of
those in the know. There is no need to get new sleezy gear. Do 100 crunches, work the chest/ arms
lay on the deck get some sun. (The San Juan routine lol) and its showtime. Dont forget to go to Frankie’s Party in Chicago.
