Links: Hot Stuff Coming Through

Pre-summer heatwave

by j. brotherlove

Yes, folks, it’s Friday already. How do these things happen? More importantly, what’s up with the weather? I don’t know about where you are, but in Atlanta, we had another week of 90-degree temperatures with no rain to speak of. Soon people will just start bursting into flames.

You want links?

cast of Don't Go

I’ve written quite a bit about The Closet, The Dl Chronicles and Noah’s Arc (especially, Noah’s Arc). I’m relieved to be able to mention a series about lesbians for a change, called Don’t Go.

“Don’t Go” is the intimate story of the lives and loves of a group of vibrant individuals living in an apartment complex in Los Angeles. […] rather than a static representation of our daily problems, this television series introduces us to new characters that may be our neighbors in real life but are rarely seen on our television screens.

I’m intrigued. Currently, Don’t Go is touring the film circuit so keep an eye out for it. Watch the trailer here.

At About’s Gay Life, Ramone Johnson is celebrating 30 Days of Pride. So far he’s interviewed people like Cyndi Lauper, Carson Kressley, Jody Watley and a personal favorite of mine, Lee Daniels (you did see Shadowboxer, right?)

Looking for “art, culture and sophistication for the urban gay male”? Give MasculineCurves.com a try. The website features the work of Cleveland based fine art photographer, Aaron Morrow. Sayeth the artist:

“It has always been my dream to put together a collection of work that pays tribute to the beauty of everyday men with realistic body types.

Clutch the pearls! Did a gay person just refer to “realistic body types” in a positive manner? Click fast before Aaron changes his mind.

If vanilla sex gives you the yawns or you’re in the mood for something more risque (and NSFW), Safer + Saner may be the site for you.

Safer + Saner is a New York-based group that provides safer sex outreach and education targeting the African American leather and kink communities. They also publish a (really hot) 28-page, full color introductory leathersex safety guide called FUNK!

Member BK was in Atlanta this past weekend representing the group (very well, I might add!) It’s great to see brothers looking out for one another, especially in a fringe subcommunity like leather. On a related note, Andrés recently profiled DJ Quentin Harris who is also a Safer + Saner member. That’s hot!

j, I have to say I LOVE your “links” posts. Kudos especially for posts like this one - links that concern and inform about black, LGBT, kinky, artsy, interesting folk. You are the bomb!

I am with you on the heat; it is almost too much to bare. The worst part, is that it is only going to get worse! It is only June!!! Ugh!!!

Damn climate change! LOL

@Anitra Thanks!

@duane Yeah, it’s going to be a long, hot summer.
