An example of why I don’t party with the straight, black folks too often:
Dress Code for Men: No denim, no cargo pants, no athletic gear, no work boots, no t-shirts (shirts must have collars), polo shirts must be of one solid color, khakis pants are ok but must be neat, shoes must be hard soled, no logos on clothes.Dress Code for Women: Denim is ‘acceptable’ but must be neat (no tears), no cotton tees, no athletic gear, no shorts, no logos on clothes.
Um… I’m thinking if you have to tell your clintele how to dress then perhaps you need a different clientele.
What’s with these “dress codes”, anyway. I dress business casual, Monday though Friday. On the weekends, I like to relax it a bit; perhaps wear a pair of jeans, or comfortable sweats and a say-something shirt.
There is no incentive for me to dress in my better clothes and get them smoked up, spilt on and sweated out listening and dancing to hip hop. None. Hip hop artists don’t dress worth a damn. Yet, I’m expected to break out the fashions to listen to 50 Cent?
A break is needed. Trust.
I’ll continue to frequent holes-in-the-wall, where a dress code is unheard of, the drinks are stronger and the clientele is cheap.
